Road Traffic Law is a specialised and technical area of law because there are currently 13 Road Traffic Acts and hundreds of statutory instruments.
Common road traffic offences include driving without a licence or insurance, careless and dangerous driving and drink driving offences. There are in fact numerous road traffic offences.
Most road traffic offences are prosecuted in the District Court and the penalties include, penalty points, fines and disqualification from driving.
